Dancing Hearts Consulting (DHC) is a Black-woman-led firm made up of high-caliber consultants. DHC curates innovative ideas, designs impact programs, drives organizational change, adds organizational capacity, strategy development, and consultants on political programs. We curate and design projects that drive systemic change upending the status quo and testing emerging strategies with the goal of long-term change for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC).

 

We are a consortium of BIPOC, LGBTQI+, disability justice, and white abolitionists with decades of field experience professionally driving change with social justice, philanthropic, and political organizations to co-create a more reflective, responsive, and accountable American democracy.

Consultant Role: Senior Consultant

Location: Remote (must be able to work on PST)

Salary: DHC offers competitive contracts based on consultant experience, location, and the number of projects the consultant is contributing to. DHC works with consultants who have a registered LLC.

Description:

The Senior Consultant's main goal is to deliver exceptional and high-quality service to Dancing Hearts Consulting clients. They’re capable of managing multiple competing priorities with stealth diplomacy. They are a thought partner to clients and teams. They think strategically and can execute tactically. They’re capable of facilitating a client through a process and also ensure your team has a project management process to deliver quality deliverables. They’re comfortable providing strategic direction, guidance, and feedback to their team. They’re collaborative, lift up the leadership of others on their team. They’re fiercely anti-racist committed to racial justice and building political power in BIPOC communities. They are resourceful and have attention to detail. They know how to delegate. They enter a client meeting with a point of view while being open to shifting with client input, they are solution-oriented, have an abundance mindset, and are excited about designing a new political framework grounded in real equity. They are confident and build trust with DHC clients and teams. Most of all, they like to have fun. 

Responsibilities and Skills

  • Experience leading and managing teams.

  • Experience developing and implementing a project management process for teams to follow to ensure excellent deliverables and professional execution.

  • Experience with strategic planning including walking organizations through a strategic planning process that could involve stakeholder interviews, surveys, SWAT and risk analysis, formative research, landscape analysis, organizational change strategies, stakeholder mapping, value proposition, message development.

  • Master facilitator comfortable facilitating events, meetings, training, and convenings.

  • Prepare and establish a point of view on a way forward with clients before meetings and are confident, patient, and respectful with clients.

  • Wide capacity to work with a variety of personalities and perspectives, you live equity and inclusion, you are curious about what works and doesn’t for teams and clients, and have high emotional IQ.

  • Enthusiasm for learning and growing.

  • Exceptional team and people management skills.

Qualifications:

  • Direct organizing, electoral, campaign, or policy-advocacy skills. 

  • You’ve won and you’ve lost- but you have direct experience to draw on and offer clients. Specialized expertise is a big plus especially if you know how to teach others!

  • 7-15 years of leading projects with incrementally more leadership as your career progresses.

  • A leadership point of view and build up the capacity of your team.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience with PowerPoint and Canva presentations.

Senior Consultant 

Project Coordinator Consultant

Consultant Role: Project Coordinator Consultant

Description:

The Project Coordinator Consultant will deliver exceptional high-quality service to Dancing Hearts Consulting clients. The project coordinator is a central colleague on a team ensuring projects are efficiently managed, deliverables are on time and of the highest quality and clients are satisfied. They should be organized and adept at working in google docs and other project management platforms, capable of managing competing priorities with a positive attitude, and have a collaborative approach to teamwork. 

Responsibilities and Skills

  • Experience managing projects including creating agendas, meeting deadlines on the production of deliverables, helping move a team forward.

  • Ability to craft presentations in Canva, PowerPoint, and other platforms.

  • Strong attention to detail both written and verbal.

  • Excellent writing capacity.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Capture key takeaways in client and team meetings and transfer those actions to project management tools and next steps.

  • Organizing scheduling.

  • Capacity to prioritize work and pivot with client demands as necessary.

  • Professional and polished approach.

  • Organized and experienced working in Google documents and other project management software a plus.

  • Capable of both influencing a team and following directions.

Qualifications:

  • Issue expertise and/or experience in organizing, electoral, campaign, or policy-advocacy skills.

  • You’ve won and you’ve lost- but you have direct experience to draw on and offer clients. Specialized expertise is a big plus... especially if you know how to teach others!

  • 3-7 years of professional experience working on similar projects and driving deliverables on teams

  • Experience managing workstreams and helping teams meet deadlines.

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred or proven work experience.

  • A proven commitment to racial and social justice.
